Laser Tattoo Removal
At Laser Remedy, we use the Cynosure PicoSure Laser for faster laser tattoo removal. PicoSure is the most advanced laser treatment available for safe and effective tattoo removal. PicoSure targets unwanted ink more effectively than other nanosecond lasers, successfully removing difficult ink colors, such as blues, greens, and purples as well as previously treated tattoos. Fewer treatments, faster recovery time and greater results are possible with PicoSure’s groundbreaking picosecond technology.
Your treating clinician will use Laser Remedy’s state of the art lasers to direct energy at the ink in your tattoo for a fraction of a second. The laser energy passes harmlessly through the outer layer of your skin to target the tattoo ink directly. The laser fragments the ink into smaller components. The resulting smaller particles of ink are then removed by the body’s own immune system.
The time of laser tattoo removal treatments are very short, often lasting only minutes, so you can fit it into your busy schedule. Most often several (3-8) treatments are needed, and double that many treatments with a traditional Q-switched Laser. We also have the Cynosure Medlite Q-switch laser as well. Treatment sessions are spaced 6 weeks or longer in between treatments.
Most people explain the feeling of the laser similar to being slapped with a rubber band. As we treat the area, we cool the overlying skin with a skin cooling device called the Zimmer cooling system. We cool the skin before, during and after the procedure, reducing the pain while decreasing the thermal temperature. This cooling air makes the procedure as comfortable as possible. We also use prescription numbing cream to minimize any discomfort.
Laser Remedy/Tattoo Undo’s laser tattoo removal is Southeast Denver’s first clinic to specialize in the safe and honest procedure of laser tattoo removal. We are specialists when it comes to laser tattoo removal simply because we have the most experience and truly care about our clients. We treat our clients how we would like to be treated. We use the best lasers in the industry, the PicoSure Laser and the Medlite Laser, both lasers are designed specifically for tattoo removal. Beware of med spas and skin care centers that are using a laser that isn’t customized for tattoo removal and if used improperly, could lead to much more severe and long-term side effects. Our competitors use a laser with two or three wavelengths, but our lasers are better, with five wavelengths allowing us to remove all colors of ink safely.
Each person is as unique as their tattoo, but most professional tattoos take between 5-10 treatments. Homemade tattoos usually take less. Laser tattoo removal treatments are spaced out 6 weeks apart. The number of treatments on how your tattoo removal will work can depend on a number of factors, such as:
- amount of ink used
- depth of the ink placed in the skin
- type of ink used
- location on your body
- age of tattoo
- colors used
- size of tattoo
The healthier you are (drinking water and exercising, abstain from smoking), the more likely you are to get a good result in a shorter period of time.
Unfortunately no, the time between treatments is set up so your tattoo can heal properly and your body has enough time to flush the tattoo ink out, naturally. The results, after a treatment, are not always immediate. The body breaks down the ink slowly, usually taking weeks to see the full results, from a treatment. This is how tattoo removal works.
Yes it can be, but getting one hurts too. Everyone has a different pain tolerance, but it is a much faster procedure than getting the original tattoo. We use a Zimmer Cryo Chiller during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. We also stand apart from our competition because we offer topical numbing cream and ice at no additional charge.
The removal process is actually very fast, but the time of each session will ultimately be determined by the size of the tattoo being removed. Very large tattoos might be removed in sections, with time in between sessions, to allow the body to eliminate the ink most efficiently.
No. Black, Blue, Purple, Green and Red inks are the easiest to remove, while Yellow and White are the hardest. In some cases, these colors cannot be removed completely.
In most cases, yes. However, complete removal is sometimes a hard thing to predict, due to all the unregulated tattoo inks on the market. The F.D.A. does not regulate tattoo inks and a lot of tattoo ink manufacturers and artists make and mix their own inks. Sometimes these mixes have metals and other foreign additives, for affect. These unknowns are why 100% removal is hard to predict or promise. We are seeing 90-100% clearance with the PicoSure laser. And in time we get 100% clearance most often.
Knowing how tattoo removal works and that pain can be associated with the process is important. At Tattoo Undo we use a Zimmer Cryo Chiller before, during, and after the short procedure. This is known as the “natural” way to cool the epidermis, bringing the forced air down to -30 degrees. This application along with an over the counter pain medicine, such as Tylenol, is all that we recommend for most people. If necessary or you have a low pain tolerance we are one of the only clinics that offer a topical numbing cream that will minimize the pain even more. The numbing cream needs to be applied 30-45 minutes before.
Our clinic uses the gold standard in laser tattoo removal, the Cynosure Medlite C6 Q-Switched Nd:Yag laser with four wavelengths and the PicoSure Laser for faster removal. Our competitors use lasers with three or two wavelengths that are not as effective. We use the most advanced lasers available for one main goal: to provide the best tattoo removal results, period.
Side effects that Tattoo Undo patients will likely experience, are short-term but worth mentioning. The skin may get red, swollen, and may blister. Blisters can get quite large and at times, cover the entire tattoo. These blisters are superficial and will heal beautifully, but may be uncomfortable for a couple of days. We provide very clear and easy aftercare instructions, for post treatment care.
Knowing the recovery time and how tattoo removal works is important information. Most patients can resume their daily activities immediately following a laser tattoo removal treatment. You will need to avoid exposing the treated area to the sun and strenuous physical activities that may affect the treated area.
Immediately after each treatment, the treated area may feel sunburned, and we recommend you apply ice to help with this. We will send you home with a reusable ice pack. The treatment area might be swollen, red and very tender. It is really like a burn. Blisters may form. Do not pick at the skin, let it heal naturally. You will ice it down for the first 24 hours and thereafter for comfort. In the months ahead your body will dispose of the ink through your lymphatic system.
Laser tattoo removal is definitely safe and effective on darker skin types, as long as the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is used. Tattoo Undo only uses the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser for our dark skin removals. The safest tattoo color to treat is black. The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is safe because the wavelength of this laser (1064 nanometers) is longer than that of the Q-switched Ruby (694 nm) and Alexandrite (755 nm) lasers. The Alexandrite and Ruby lasers are safe for lighter skin types, but carry a risk of pigmentary change in darker skin.
With the PicoSure Laser we are seeing immediate results! It takes about 6 weeks for the body to absorb the ink. Some people see some difference after the first session, though some do not. The laser works from the inside out,so it may take a few sessions to start seeing the results.
Two weeks after, when the skin has healed.
